Elias was born in September, during harvest, and has spent his entire life since in the Douro Valley. He grew up doing the physical work of the vineyards before becoming an enotourism guide at a historic Port wine quinta, greeting visitors from all over the world and answering the same honest questions about Port, year after year.

Port Perfection grew out of those conversations. Most guides to Port wine are written from a tasting sheet. This one is written from inside the valley: from a childhood spent among the terraces, a family that has always kept its own pipa at home, and years spent explaining Port to people tasting it for the first time.
